CIRCULAR No. 3 Project: “Wear the Future”

Matter to Life, 23 September 202610 October 2026

by Baldo Tronfini (the director)

Our people. Our prêt-à-porter

To all researchers, women included,

At a time when many of you are wondering whether you may have to change careers, a very real possibility, the Department of Research and Innovation has deemed it necessary to address an even more urgent matter:

style.

After all, it is our duty to determine how many style points to award our employees.

And so was born the new initiative of the Department of Research and Technological Innovation, supported by the communications offices of the Pippolone of the Free State of Bananas: “Wear the future, a new paradigm in which public research meets textiles, fashion, creativity, and the ever-present strategic imperative to go beyond appearances.

Much further, far enough to blur the problem completely.

Thanks to Pippolon, our recently renovated computing centre, soon to be powered by the Director’s high brilliance (that is, yours truly), we can now observe what normally remains invisible, base research, now so thoroughly hidden that detecting it requires a major infrastructure.

What technique is being used? Why do we need the Pippolone? What scientific question are we trying to answer?

These are complex questions, and we mustn’t let them distract us. The real goal is to create dialogue..

A dialogue with the clothes a dialogue with the man, a dialogue between fashion and artificial intelligence.

Between artificial intelligence and biodiversity, between biodiversity and the man, between the man and the clothes.

And finally, in one of the most advanced forms of transdisciplinarity ever funded, between the dress and the habit and the clothes.

By the end of it, with a bit of luck, there might even be a scientific experiment.

And so we bring research closer to the groups in society we have culpably neglected until now.

Students? Teachers? The tech industry? Early-career researchers?

Nope. we want Valentino..

And we’ll wait patiently for an international fashion house to decide to save the national research system. In the meantime, we’ll keep investing in the most abundant resource we have left: cold-pressing researchers on fixed-terms contracts.
